There are several ways that people can get involved in REAL Devon:
Become a Project Appraiser
We are seeking to recruit appraisers to appraise project applications for the new LEADER programme (2015-2020).
We are extremely keen to engage a “pool” of appraisers to appraise project applications for two Local Action Groups (LAGs), Making It Local, which covers the Blackdown hills and East Devon and REAL Devon which covers mostly Mid Devon. Details of the specific areas and full programme information can be found on their respective websites: www.makingitlocal.organd www.realdevon.org
The Programme management of these two LAGS is undertaken by the same team, therefore it is also felt that a joint pool of appraisers would give greater flexibility and ensure that there are always appraisers available. Devon County Council is the accountable body for the two programmes.
What skills are required?
To be an appraiser for the LEADER programme you will have a depth of skills, knowledge and experience in at least one of the following areas:
For more details about becoming an appraiser, what it involves and how to apply take a look at our appraiser factsheet.
Join our wider LAG
The LAG is made up of representatives of organisations and individuals from the area covered by the REAL Devon Programme. It helps to steer the process for the Programme. The group meets twice yearly in the spring (March/April) and the autumn (September/October) at our update events. These update events provide the opportunity for people to see what we have been up to, which projects have been funded and a chance to ask questions etc. Anyone is welcome to attend. If you are interested in joining this group or attending the next update event please contact us.
Join our Executive Members Group (EMG)
The Executive Members Group is the decision making body and managing group for the REAL Devon Local Action Group. It is made up of people with a range of local skills, knowledge and interest needed to make the Programme work. The EMG will oversee the implementation of the programme including the final decision making on grant applications and delivery of outputs in line with the annual Delivery Plan and the overall Development Strategy. There is a mix of voting and non-voting members. The group meets every other month.
